2010 Shriver Golf Academy Summer Camp
Chip, Pitch, and Sand Golf School
Saturday, June 25th from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Are you struggling to get “Up and Down” around the greens? Frustrated with pitching and Sand shots? Not sure what to do with different lies? Always going to your 7 iron , instead of using a Sandwedge or Lob Wedge for pitch shots to elevated greens? We can help!!! Learn how to chip, when to pitch, what to do out of the sand. There are so many choices with these shots, and it can be confusing and overwhelming for golfers. Feel like you are playing “Army golf”, back and forth, left and right, over the green and back over the other side with your chipping and pitching? Let us show you the keys to short game strategies that will help you have more confidence around the greens and shoot lower scores! Students will receive a gift , and a personal folder with detailed notes on chipping , pitching, and sand shots to take home. Video Swing analysis will be done for you during the school. We are scheduling this to start early in the morning to “beat the heat”. Sign up and reserve your spot now via email or phone, $25.00 non refundable deposit required. Cost is $100. 727-480-9049 or patmcclananshriver@live.com .

Golf Tip of the Month
Devote the Month of June to your Short Game! Spend time at our Pitching Green working on your approach shots from 50 yards and In! As you are closer to the green, it is imperative that you know what clubs to use for different situations and different shots. When practicing, hit the same shot with different clubs, to see which shot is the right one for you in that situation. For example , if you want to practice a 30 yard shot to the green, start with your lob wedge ( 60 degree) , or sand wedge ( 56 degree). First practice making a swing that is waist high to waist high ( 3 to 9 o’clock) with no wrist hinge, just swinging shoulders and arms back and forth in a pendulum motion. Stand with your feet and shoulders square. Then try using a 9 iron for the same shot, and make a “chipping swing” . Start with your hands forward at address, stance more narrow, hitting down , pinching the grass as you meet the ball, executing more of a “bump and run” shot with the ball flying on a lower trajectory, running to the hole. To summarize, the first shot is a pitch, the second shot is a chip, or bump and run. Try both to decide which will be the most reliable method for you.
Come and Join our “Chip , Pitch, and Sand” Golf School on Saturday, June 25th, to learn the keys to executing these shots !!
